Impact sound/step sound

Based on the testing and product development from 2006-2013, we recommend the following method when it comes to reducing impact noise from the stairs to the corresponding adjacent roomsVIEW Stepsound  Document

STEPSOUND REPORT SUMMARY

The measurements done in different types of buildings, shows that the values in real terms, from on-situ casted or precasted stairs (with the gap between the landing and wall fully casted out), are between 65-70 dB (Publication from Byggforsk 2-2006 nr 532.241)

Therefore will we recommend these solutions when insulating for impact sound:

Solutions

Reduction

Assumed value

TSS 102 with rubber pads for sound reduction and vertical rubber flange. (Figure 2)

20-25dB

42 dB

TSS 101 with vertical rubber flange. (Figure 1)

12-15 dB

58 dB

Only TSS or RVK

5-8   dB

65 dB

Note! All of these solutions are only casted out around the TSS/ RVK units. It is very important that the cap between the rest of the landing and the wall is not casted out. (Then you will get an lower reduction for the impact sound)

Typical limit value of weighted average impact sound.
